New Zealand Christmas & New Years 2014/2015

Rafting up together in order to sail in the wind, which was awesome. The pictures are on my waterproof camera since we get wet sailing so they'll be added later.

We saw 58 waterfalls on the 3 day kayaking trip.

It rained throughout the morning. We didn't get pictures, but we ran to the end of the lake where the LOTR filmed the bogs of the Dead Marshes.

Between rainstorms, we walked around Te Anau and found this cute statue of a Takahe.
-
Takahe - They were thought to be extinct, but were rediscovered around 1948. These flightless birds are still endanger due to invasive possums, stoats, rats, and cats.

Driving to Queenstown. The storms in Te Anau dropped snow in the mountains east of Queenstown.

Pohutukawa trees - This native tree is known in New Zealand as their Christmas tree since it only blooms around Christmas.
