Shopping in Hokitika which is famous for its jade.

We stopped by a Kiwi Center which was a mini zoo. This is a stuffed kiwi because we could see the live kiwis, but you are not allowed to take pictures of them.

West Coast Whitebait. These are juvenile fish that are famously eaten as Whitebait patties (see my pics from Haast)

New Zealand Longfin freshwater eels. The females live up to 100 years.
