New Zealand has some of the only glaciers in temperate rainforests. Notice all of the lush trees around the lookout point. The only other places are Alaska and Patagonia.

The face of the Fox Glacier is only about 500 meters above sea level.

This is one of many river crossings on this trail. Not too bad, but it could be really sketchy if it rained. The rocks were slippery and unstable due to many avalanches.
